A New Set of Eyes for New Frontiers - Teledyne Innovative Technology

The German multinational technology corporation, OHB Systems, has elected Teledyne e2v to provide high definition imaging technology. Teledyne Technologies, Inc has been chosen to use their customized charge couple device (CCD) for the European Space Agency also known as the (ESA).

The ESA has begun a mission that will release a Fluorescence Explorer satellite into an outer space. 

The CCD is only a part of the entire project that is to be put into place by these contributing companies.

With the completion of the CCD, it is to be integrated with the FLEX instrument.

The FLEX instrument is a dual effort by the two entities of the OHB System and Leonardo Florence, one of Italy’s finest.

The CCDs to be made will come equipped with a custom frame transfer design in accordance to the FLORIS instrument regulations. The Florescence Imaging Spectrometer has been a great resource to the research of many microscopic imaging.

The FLORIS will also play a large role as a part of the payload of the satellite

The CCDs is one of the most innovative attributes that this satellite has to offer. Manufactured with material that allows for a lighter travel that causes a reduction of noise.  While traveling at higher transfer speeds it can also perform at very fine high-quantum speeds.

The CCD have been also manufactured to with stand top temperatures required to enter the atmosphere.  These extreme temperature properties have been able to be thermomechanical complaint.

Teledyne has been fortunate enough to be a part of the Sentinels satellite mission. Not only have they been a part of Sentinels satellite but they have been a part of Sentinel-2 and Sentinel -3 creating high definition images.

These types of more efficient satellites will allow for more advanced research by scientist for a closer look at plant behavior and other important geographic tendencies.
