In early November of 2017, SilkAir, a branch of Singapore Airlines, secured a fifteen-year rate per flight arrangement with the joint venture group, CFM International.
This arrangement allows SilkAir to be able to handle their new LEAP-1B engines that will be inside their new Boeing 737 Max 8 aircrafts. CFM has a large fleet of these new aircrafts, totaling in at thirty-seven Boeing aircrafts. Their fifteen-year rate per flight agreement will have them slowly getting their new Boeing 737 Max 8 aircrafts all the way up until 2024.
In recent news, Stratasys one of the industries prolific 3D printing companies have partnered with Boom Supersonic for the development of 3D parts for their supersonic aircraft. Together they have planned to produce a more efficient part made from 3D fabrication. Their partnership also means the integration of both companies within each other. Sources state that the integration will include Stratasys FDM 3D printing technology to be placed into Boom Supersonics headquarters located in Denver, Colorado. The printers that are to be placed into the Supersonics’ facilities are the Fortus 450mc and F370 3D model printers. Included with the partnership will be included not only the fabrication but the maintance services.
