Ball Bearings Cages Identified Into Four Different Types Of Categorizes
Ball Bearings cages are one of the most common pieces to adjust the rotation of larger component.. The primary job of the cages exists to maintain oils within cage to keep them lubricated and to keep the solid film within the cage coated.
The Four main cage groups are J-type, W-type, RJ-type and TW-type . Picked with great precision as they are chosen for the type of work it will perform a for the longevity of the bearing itself.
The “J Type” bearing is most commonly made of 302 stainless steel but also available in brass and carbon steel. Consisting of two halves that have been binding together with tabs that have been folded down securely. The J type bearing is guided by the balls but is only able to perform at a “loose” clinch meaning it has lower torque performance.
The "W type" bearing is made out of 410 stainless steel and is primarily made for smaller sized bearings. Composed out of a one-piece steel crown and cage is placed over the balls on one side. Much like the J type the W type is not made to be placed on higher speed applications.
The "RJ type" is made for more durability for higher performance in larger applications. These types of bearings are capable for larger bearings that measure over 10 mm in diameter. Made of 302 Stainless steel and can also be made out of carbon steel sheets. For more durability two halves have been riveted together that have been made out of one side and the other half of the opposite side.
The "TW type" is made for higher speeds and has been composed out of a molded nylon cage. These type of bearings are built for more precision as they can also be made out of glass fiber reinforced nylon. Operating at temperatures of -30oC to + 1200C requiring exact precision to reach maximum potential.
